Last June, we bid a fond farewell to Mrs Karen Butler, who was taking a career break. Since then, she has resigned and is now working in Scoil Mhuire, Tallow, Co. Waterford.
Mrs. Butler was a valued member of staff at St. John the Baptist BNS for over 20 years. During her time here, she worked in both mainstream classes and, along with Mrs Katie Cowan and the late Mrs Úna Kinnane (RIP), helped to establish the school’s very first special class in a mainstream setting.
Karen was an extremely diligent, conscientious, and caring SNA. The children in her care were always nurtured and loved. As a colleague, she was funny, witty, and ever ready to lend a hand. We already miss her presence in both the classroom and the staffroom, and our social staff gatherings will not be the same without her.
We wish Karen every success and happiness in her new school, and we thank her most sincerely for the wonderful care, kindness, and dedication she gave to the pupils of St. John the Baptist BNS.
