Kanelbullar Day—one of Sweden’s most beloved food holidays! 🇸🇪🍂

5th Oct 2025

Every year on October 4th, Swedes celebrate the Swedish cinnamon bun, or kanelbulle. These buns are soft, sweet, and flavored with cinnamon, sugar, and often a hint of cardamom, with pearl sugar sprinkled on top.
The day was established in 1999 by the Swedish Home Baking Council (Hembakningsrådet) to celebrate the nation’s love of home-baked goods, particularly cinnamon buns. It has since become hugely popular in cafes, schools, and homes across Sweden. Swedes consume millions of cinnamon buns each year, and Kanelbullar Day is a chance to celebrate this national obsession. It was extra special for Oscar to share a piece of his Swedish heritage with his classmates at St John the Baptist BNS. Celebrating Kanelbullar Day together not only let everyone enjoy his delicious cinnamon buns but also gave his classmates an opportunity to learn about Swedish culture and traditions.
