Junior Assembly

30th Jan 2026

Our Junior Assembly recently welcomed members of the Green Schools Committee, who spoke to us about their latest initiative focused on reducing food waste in our school. They explained why food waste is a serious issue, both for the environment and for communities around the world, and helped students understand how small actions can make a big difference.

The committee shared practical steps that pupils can take each day, such as only taking the food they know they will eat, finishing their lunches where possible, and separating food waste correctly. The talk encouraged everyone to think more carefully about their choices at lunchtime and to work together to make our school a more sustainable place. They also encouraged teachers to be mindful of their coffee cups and to use a reusable cup. It was an engaging and informative presentation that inspired junior students to play their part in protecting the environment.
