Staff at St John the Baptist BNS were back today for planning days. Meanwhile, members of Fórsa trade union have begun an indefinite strike (August 28, 2025), involving more than 2,600 school secretaries and caretakers across Ireland.The action follows the breakdown of talks at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) and comes after a 98% ballot in favour of strike action. The workers are seeking to be included in the public service pension scheme and to secure basic entitlements such as occupational sick pay and bereavement leave—rights that are routinely available to other public servants but continue to be denied to them.We stand in solidarity and wish our colleagues well in their pursuit of these long-overdue entitlements.
