Visit of Sean Kelly to St John the Baptist BNS

8th May 2019
Ms Rebecca Curry and the fourth class boys at St John the Baptist BNS recently invited Sean Kelly MEP to school recently as part of the Blue Star Programme. Participating schools in the Blue Star Programme need to carry out projects and tasks that include information about:
  • the foundation and development of the European Union;
  • the cultural and linguistic diversity of Europe;
  • the role of the EU: what it does and how its work affects the lives of European citizens;
  • participating schools are also required to hold a Europe Day event (on or around 9 May) where the school community showcases and celebrates its achievements throughout the year.

Europe Day is a highlight of the Programme as the school community gets an opportunity to showcase and celebrate its achievements throughout the school year. Our Europe Day was a great opportunity for the boys to display all their Blue Star work and to promote all things intercultural and European. The boys held a  European food fair and thanks to all the parents who made such beautiful food. The boys enjoyed an interesting questions and answers session with Sean Kelly. Past pupil Declan Burgess accompanied Sean on his visit to the school.
